Level: A0 -> A2
Fee: €199,- per Step (8 lessons/75 minutes, 2 lessons a week, or intensive 1-week course: 5 lessons/120 min, 5 lessons a week)
Step 1 (A0 -> A0/A1)
In this Step you will learn how to:
- greet someone, and ask how someone is doing
- introduce yourself and tell about your family
- make an appointment with a friend, and give a reaction to an invitation
- order a drink in a coffee place
- ask someone over for dinner and go grocery shopping
Grammar in Step 1:
Conjugate verbs in present tense:
- Hij woont in Utrecht.
- Waar woon jij?
- Jullie wonen in een appartement.
Place words in the correct order in a simple main sentence:
- Mijn naam is Elena.
- Woont je zus in Nederland?
Use personal and possessive pronouns:
- Ik heb een auto. Mijn auto is rood.
- Zij hebben vrienden in Italië. Hun vrienden wonen in Italië.
Use adjectives:
- De koffie is lekker. We drinken lekkere koffie.
- Het boek is fantastisch. Ik lees een fantastisch boek.
Step 2 (A0/A1 -> A1)
In this Step you will learn how to:
- order a meal in a restaurant
- ask someone’s opinion about something
- go shopping and ask questions /answer questions in the shops
- describe your house and its surroundings
- make a doctor’s appointment
Grammar in Step 2:
Use modal verbs:
- Wat zullen we drinken? Ik wil graag een glas wijn.
Form comparative and superlative adjectives:
- Vind je rood mooier dan blauw? Ik vind groen het mooist.
Use demonstrative pronouns:
- Dit shirt is groter dan dat shirt.
- Wil je deze broek of die broek?
Use the negative form:
- Ik koop geen boek.
- Ik zie het huis niet.
Conjugate verbs in past tense (‘perfectum’):
- Ik heb vandaag hard gewerkt.
- Ik heb een jaar in China gewoond.
Step 3 (A1 -> A1/A2)
In this Step you will learn how to:
- make small talk at an informal meeting
- have a short chat about work, study, hobbies, and sports
- ask for directions or give directions
Grammar in Step 3:
Conjugate verbs in past tense (‘imperfectum’):
- Gisteren regende het niet.
- We fietsten naar het park.
Conjugate reflexive verbs:
- Hij voelt zich vandaag niet zo lekker.
- Conjugate separable verbs:
- Ik werk morgen met mijn collega samen.
Step 4 (A1/A2 -> A2)
In this Step you will learn how to:
- tell about vacations and travels
- tell about your day, week, and weekend
- have a phone conversation
- describe a situation
Grammar in Step 4:
Place words in the correct order, combining two main clauses:
- Zij spreekt Engels en hij spreekt Nederlands.
- Place words in the correct order, combining main and subordinate clauses:
- Ik ga op reis als ik tijd heb.
Choose the right conjunction:
- Ik ga naar huis, want ik ben moe.
- Ik ga naar huis, omdat ik moe ben.

Step 5 (A2 -> A2+)
In Step 5 – 8 you will practice all language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The focus is on the active use of practical and useful Dutch that can be used in real-life situations. In these four Steps you will expand your vocabulary skills and your grammatical knowledge.
Grammar in Step 5:
Various grammar topics, such as:
Place words in the correct order in the main clause, in present and past tense:
- Ik ben in het weekend met een vriend naar het theater gegaan.
Place words in the correct order, combining main and subordinate clauses, and choosing the correct conjunctions:
- Voordat ze naar buiten ging, deed ze het licht uit.
- Ik ga naar het strand, als het weer goed is.
Construct sentences with the verb ‘zouden’
- Ik zou graag een keer een lange reis willen maken.
- Als ik genoeg geld had, zou ik dat huis kopen.
Step 6 (A2+ -> A2/B1)
In Step 5 – 8 you will practice all language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The focus is on the active use of practical and useful Dutch that can be used in real-life situations. In these 4 Steps you will expand your vocabulary skills and your grammatical knowledge.

Use the word ‘te’ before an infinitive:
- Hij probeert zijn fiets te repareren.
- Hij wil zijn fiets repareren.
Use ‘om te’ before an infinitive:
- Ik vind het te warm om een jas te dragen.
Conjugate separable verbs:
- Ze hangt het schilderij op.
- Wil je het schilderij ophangen?
Step 7 (A2/B1 -> B1-)
In Step 5 – 8 you will practice all language skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The focus is on the active use of practical and useful Dutch that can be used in real-life situations. In these 4 Steps you will expand your vocabulary skills and your grammatical knowledge.

- Ben je in Parijs geweest? Ja, ik ben er geweest.
- Heb je veel boeken? Ja, ik heb er veel.
- Er staat een computer op de tafel.

Step 8 (B1- -> B1)

Group Course
Level: B1 -> B2
Fee: €199,- per Step (Mon to Fri, 5 lessons/2 hrs).
The Step 9 advanced course is a 1-week course and takes place once every 3 months. It covers different topics each time. You can participate in this course as often as needed to reach B2-level.
Step 9 (B1 -> B2)
In Step 9 – the advanced course – you will be working toward B2-level. Each lesson will focus on conversation and expanding your vocabulary, so you’re sure to become a more confident Dutch speaker. You will improve your reading and writing skills, while practicing your grammar knowledge.

These fun and effective conversation & grammar classes are for people who would like to refresh their grammar knowledge and boost their conversation skills.
